Ottawa was first lived in by the Algonquin people. It stayed this way until 1608, when a European explorer found it. The Algonquin tribe spoke Ojibwa. Algonquin people were very independent. They had little communication between one another. There traditional custom is to live in disassembled birch bark. The Algonquin people left when the Europeans took the land.
